It is one of the folk paintings that were widely popular at the end of the 18th century when King Jeongjo promoted a policy of valuing books and learning. It employs a drawing technique that allows for a free composition of objects. The paintings are rendered in inverse perspective. Many objects used in the leisure life of ancient scholars appear in the painting, allowing us to observe the lifestyle of scholars who focused on writing and studying at that time.
